A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments

ABATE of South Carolina, Inc. is the motorcyclists' rights organization of South Carolina. Our members brought freedom of choice to South Carolina bikers in June of 1980; ABATE amended South Carolina's mandatory motorcycle helmet law to allow adult freedom of choice. ABATE stands for A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments. Our philosophy is to defend liberty; while we do not oppose safety devices we oppose laws that mandate the usage of devices.

Hesitation can be a killer; you must be able to react immediately. If you are new to motorcycling learn these skills today and practice till the skills become second nature. Important riding skills include steering, braking, shifting, and packing passengers.

Why Lobby?
To make biker rights a reality, you must convince legislators that your position makes sense. Visiting a legislator is an essential tactic for furthering your campaign. Lobby visits can be made on the local, state, or national level, depending on the particular issue you are supporting. South Carolina Motorcycle Statutes

Our friends at Tom McGrath's Motorcycle Law Group have compiled a list of laws that apply to motorcyclists in South Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia.

South Carolina has several statutes that directly relate to motorcyclists, including licensure, inspections, and use of public roads. If you feel that your rights have been violated call them at 1-800-321-8968 and speak with one of their attorneys who practice in South Carolina.

Check out the SC laws here
